Getting The Emo Look

Of all the looks that kids today can have, the emo look is the one that most parents won't mind.

Emo is short for emotional and that's the kind of music emo fans listen to. Usually indie bands with lots of emotional lyrics. The hair is usually straight out of the 1970's and is shaggy and straight on the guys and straight and unstyled in the girls.

Eyewear is also part of the emo look. Even if you have perfect vision, get a pair black horn rims for the guys and thick rims in a shade of brown, dark purple or even black for the ladies. You can get clear lenses if you don't need vision correction.

Emo clothing is usually found in the thrift stores. Sweaters are standard items in any emo wardrobe. Pair up someone's discarded green and brown sweater made by their grandmother one Christmas that was a find in the bargain bin at the thrift store with a button up short from the 1970s or 1980s and you have a great start to an emo look.

Pants for both guys and gals should be without holes or tears and anything from the 1970s is good. Plaids, stripes or "off" colors work great. Shoes are another item for someone wanting to look emo to consider. Track shoes are the usual choice. Anything flat and comfortable looking will work.

Top off your outfit with a retro looking watch and you'll have put together a complete emo look for yourself!
