How Carbon Neutral are You?

Carbon Neutral was voted New Oxford American Dictionary's Word of the Year for 2006, yet many people don't understand what carbon neutral means.

Basically, when you drive your car, turn on your lights, throw away refuse that will need to be placed into a landfill, you are creating carbon in the environment. Carbon breaks down the ozone layer and allows for global warming to continue to occur.

The goal of being carbon neutral is to make up for expenditures of carbon you make by doing something good for the environment. You can't stop going to work so when you drive your car, attempt to car pool or ride a bike if it's possible. Another way is to consider using watches that are kinetically or solar powered. They don't require the use of a watch battery and run off of the movements of the wearer in the case of a kinetic watch and both sunlight and bright indoor lighting will power a solar watch.

Start recycling your trash and buy products with the least amount of packaging possible. You'll be amazed at how little you really wind up throwing away when you see the amount of your "trash" that can really be recycled. Some people are opting for going for solar power in their homes, most homes can be completely converted to solar energy for between $13,000 and $25,000 and completely eliminating your electrical bill.

Go for being as carbon neutral as you can in your lifestyle, just one person making a change will make a big difference for the entire world.
